A call from a 03 77 number: who is it?
Numbers starting with 03 77 (+33377 from abroad) belong to the ranges Arcep reserves for automated calls in France. They are attached to the North-east (03) area.
Who uses 03 77 numbers?
These numbers go to platforms that call in bulk: telemarketing call centres, but also automated appointment reminders, surveys and delivery services. The caller isn't necessarily located in the North-east (03) area.
In practice, a 03 77 call almost always comes from a business, rarely from an individual.
Should you call back?
If you weren't expecting a call, there is no need to call back: a telemarketer will call again if they want to. Never give a code received by text, a password or bank details to someone you didn't contact yourself.
How to stop these calls
Several options add up:
- register your number with Bloctel, the French telemarketing opt-out list;
- report abusive calls by texting the number to 33700;
- install Ylumo and turn on automatic spam blocking, which covers the whole 03 77 range.
